Social Equity Funds

Dear Joel,

I've come up with a solution for the Edwards and 9th street Delma.  The whole neighborhood would benefit from a fence on this block, but no one wants to pay for it themselves right? Here's what I suggest:

Start a 'Social Equity Fund' through Amity Bank. Have everyone on the block deposit portions of their savings and retirements to be managed by the fund. The interest accumulated will be designated to pay for the fence and all principles returned or carried over into another social project once complete.

What is SE?

We need to add a new term to our lexicon:

Social Equity is the perceived value of intangible ownership toward a desired outcome. From an economic perspective, if the assets are the potential utility or consumption of a people group, the liabilities are the barriers which keep them from participating, than the equity is the net effect of how people will respond to a challenge, problem, or ideal.

RE: Amity Group

Dear Joel,

We loaned another $20 to Patricia today to buy some khaki pants and a pack of cigaretts.  We felt the risk was mitigated by the fact that she is now employed with Franks over on Clearlake. Her total balance is now $180. She seems to be excited by the new opportunity and thanks the teams support and encouragement these last few weeks.

sincerely,
